중국의 대표 도자 생산지인 경덕진에서 제작한 원통형 청화백자로 원나라 황실에서 두루마리 종이 등을 보관할 때 사용했던 지통이다.
바깥쪽에는 중국 전국시대의 초나라(BC 11세기 -BC 223년) 사상가인 귀곡자(鬼谷子)가 포로로 잡혀간 백성들을 석방시키기 위해 귀곡의 산에서 호랑이와 표범이 끄는 수레를 타고 내려오는 장면이 코발트 안료로 그려져 있으며, 다른 쪽에는 말을 타고 질주하는 장수와 긴 창을 어깨에 메고 바삐 걸어가는 병사가 그려져 있다. 구연부 상면과 측면에 선을 두르고 그 안에 당초문을 반복하여 그렸으며, 저부(底部)에는 연잎의 변형인 연판문을 연속적으로 배치하고 그 안에 다양한 문양을 그러넣었다. 이 청화백자 지통은 하나밖에 없는 귀중한 문화유산이며, 이러한 귀곡자하산도 장면이 담긴 <원청화귀곡자하산문 관>이 2005년 런던 크리스티 경매에서 2억3천만위안(396억원)에 낙찰된 바 있다.

筒外侧用钴蓝色描绘了中国战国时代的楚国思想家鬼谷子（BC 11世纪-BC 223年）为了释放被俘的百姓，从鬼谷的山上骑着老虎和豹子拉着车下来的场面。另一边是骑着马疾驰的将领和肩上扛着长矛匆匆前行的士兵。 口沿部上端和侧面反复绘唐草纹，底部饰连续的荷叶的变形即莲瓣纹，此青花白瓷纸筒是独一无二的珍贵文化遗产，并且在2005年伦敦佳士得拍卖会上，绘有此鬼谷子下山图景的“元青花鬼谷子下山纹罐”以2.3亿元人民币(396亿韩元)的价格成交。
The blue and white cylindrical paper container was produced in Jingdezhen, the most well-known kiln in China, to keep scrolls in the Yuan imperial court.
The exterior is painted in underglaze cobalt blue with Guiguzi, a thinker of the Chu of warring states, sitting in a cart pulled by a tiger and a leopard down the hill to release the people captured as slaves. The opposite is a cavalryman hurrying with a long spear on his shoulder. The top and the side of the mouth are bordered with floral scrolls within lines, and the lower body is encircled by upright lotus lappets with various patterns. This one and only jar is highly valuable, and the Yuan blue and white narrative jar, similar to the current jar, was sold for 230 million yuan (KRW 39.6 billion) at the Christie's auction in London in 2005.
