구연부가 닭 머리 모양으로 만들어진 북송 정요(定黨) 백자이다.
닭의 머리 모양이 매우 정교하게 조각되어 있으며, 구연부와 목이 몸통의 우윳빛 흰색과 강한 대비를 이루는 갈색으로 이루어져 있어 색채 대비와 조화가 눈에 띈다. 기면에는 위와 아래에 선을 구획하여 마주보는 형태로 연꽃잎을 음각하였고, 몸체 중앙에도 아름다운 연꽃이 음각으로 그려져 있다.
전체적으로 아래가 넓고 위가 좁으며 수직으로 길게 뻗은 기형으로 우아함과 숭고미가 느껴진다.
굽의 바닥 면에는 황태자를 의미하는 '동궁(東宮)' 관지가 새겨져 있어, 황실에서 사용하던 것으로 추정되며 정요에서 황실 자기가 생산되었음을 알 수 있다.
该定窑白瓷口沿部呈鸡头状。
鸡头制作十分精巧，口沿部和颈部饰褐色，与乳白色瓶身形成强烈对比，色彩的对比与协调让人映入眼帘。外壁划线分上下，对称阴刻荷叶纹，瓶身中部也阴刻荷花纹。整体上呈现下宽、上窄的形态，垂直延伸，让人感受到优雅和崇高之美。
底足刻着“东宫”，意为太子，曾在皇室使用，由此可知皇室瓷器曾在定窑制造。
A white porcelain vase with a chicken-head mouth, made in the Ding Kiln in the Northern Song Dynasty.
The chicken head is exquisitely carved, and the color contrast between the cream-white body and the dark-brown mouth and neck add to the beauty. The exterior surface is incised with a large lotus scroll between lotus lappets on top and bottom facing each other.
The vase tapers toward the top, and the curve of the vertically stretching body makes the vase elegant and sublime.
The base is engraved with a mark reading donggong, implying that the present work was for the imperial court and that imperial porcelain was made in Ding Kiln.
