상서로운 구름 사이를 힘차게 날며, 긴 화염으로 둘러싸인 여의주(如意珠)를 쫓는 삼조룡이 그려진 뚜껑 있는 항아리입니다.
여의주는 말 그대로 ‘원하는 바를 모두 이루어주는 구슬’을 의미하며, 용은 이 여의주를 손에 넣어야만 하늘로 비상할 수 있다고 여겨졌기에 이를 쫓고 있습니다. 두 눈을 부릅뜨고 입을 벌린 채 눈앞의 여의주를 향해 발톱을 뻗으며 날아오르는 용의 얼굴과 몸체는 생동감이 있고 날렵하게 표현되어 있습니다. 수염과 갈기는 붉은 유리홍으로 시문되어 강렬하고도 웅장한 분위기를 더합니다. 중국의 제왕들은 용을 권력과 존엄의 상징으로 여겨 의복, 건축물, 황실 용품 등 다양한 분야에 널리 활용해왔습니다.
뚜껑의 측면에는 매화 가지 무늬가 둘러져 있으며, 상단에는 두 눈이 도드라진 동물 장식이 손잡이처럼 부착되어 있습니다. 측면에는 막대가 뚜껑을 관통한 듯한 장식이 붙어 있고, 어깨에는 세 개의 고리가 달려 있어 뚜껑을 거치할 수 있도록 되어 있는 점이 더 특별함을 줍니다.
항아리 하부에는 뇌문으로 구획된 아래에 변형 연판문(变形莲瓣纹)이 둘러져 있으며, 둥근 굽에는 유약이 시유되지 않았습니다.
이처럼 드문 형태의 뚜껑과 장식, 균형 잡힌 조형, 웅장한 분위기를 자아내는 용 무늬 등을 통해, 황제나 귀족이 사용했던 유물로 사료됩니다.

壶有盖，壶身绘三足龙在祥云之间奋力飞翔，追逐被烈焰环绕的如意珠。
如意珠象征“能实现一切愿望的宝珠”，龙唯有获得如意珠方可腾飞升天，因此在奋力追逐。龙张口怒目、前爪探出，形象生动，体态矫健，充满动感；胡须与鬃毛则以红釉点缀，增添了庄严而华丽的气势。龙在中国传统文化中为皇权的象征，常用于帝王服饰、建筑及御用品装饰中。
盖子侧面饰梅枝纹，顶部置兽形钮，兽双眼突出，并置贯穿盖体的棒状构件。肩部设有三枚环形装置，可用于安置盖子，结构设计独特精巧。
壶身下部以雷纹作区隔，并环饰变形莲瓣纹，圈足无釉露胎。
该器物造型端庄稳重，盖型罕见、龙纹威严，整体风格气势恢宏，推测为皇室或贵族使用过的器物。

This lidded jar features a dynamic three-clawed dragon soaring through auspicious clouds in pursuit of a flaming pearl encircled by tongues of fire. The flaming pearl (ruyi zhu, 如意珠), literally meaning “the pearl that grants all wishes,” symbolizes ultimate fulfillment and cosmic truth. In traditional Chinese belief, the dragon can ascend to the heavens only upon capturing this sacred pearl, making the pursuit both dramatic and deeply symbolic.
Rendered in underglaze cobalt blue and copper red (youlihong), the dragon’s fierce expression—wide eyes, gaping mouth, and outstretched claws—captures a moment of vigorous flight. The red pigment highlights the creature’s beard and mane, enhancing its majesty and lending an air of grandeur. Throughout Chinese imperial culture, dragons were revered as emblems of sovereign power and dignity, appearing frequently in royal garments, architecture, and court objects.
The jar's lid is encircled by a plum blossom motif, with a prominent animal-shaped knob featuring pronounced eyes, likely serving both decorative and functional purposes. Notably, a rod-like form appears to pierce through the lid, mimicking a crosspiece, while three loop handles are attached to the jar’s shoulder—possibly intended to secure or suspend the lid—underscoring the vessel’s distinctive design.
Below the body, a band of stylized lotus petals is framed by a classic thunder pattern, while the rounded foot remains unglazed.
The unusual combination of lid form, ornamental motifs, balanced proportions, and the imposing dragon imagery suggests that this jar was likely commissioned for use by a member of the imperial household or high-ranking nobility.
