다보성갤러리, 중국 문화유산 경매

봉황 머리 출수구와 둥글게 말린 꼬리 손잡이 ‘청백자철반봉수편주자’
섬세한 근육의 역동성, 네 다리로 선 한나라 말 도기 ‘채회도마’

꽃잎 모양 주둥이에 호롱박을 닮은 몸체, 어깨에 꽃잎이 첩화된 중국 북송시대 ‘역정 각화연문화구병’(易定 刻花莲纹花口瓶, 29.8×7×8cm)이 보인다. 구연부와 목 부분에 갈색 유약을 사용했고 나머지 부분은 흰색 유약을 칠했다. 안으로 들어간 허리 아래 복부에는 연잎 무늬와 연꽃이 각화되어 있다. 굽바닥에 북송 시기 대표 관지인 ‘역정(易定)’이 새겨져 있다. 역정은 궁에서 문무관들에게 하사한 기물로, 대부분 술을 담거나 진열하는데 쓰인 도자를 말한다. 제작 시기는 북송 인종(仁宗) 1038년부터 휘종(徽宗) 1125년까지다. 

한나라 때 만들어진 ‘채회도마’(陶彩绘马, 37.3cm)는 네모난 흙 판 위에 네 다리로 서 있는 말 도기(陶器)다. 약간 숙인 얼굴에 입은 살짝 벌어졌고, 동그란 두 눈과 위로 솟은 귀가 특징이다. 짧은 꼬리는 살짝 위로 올라갔고, 잘 발달한 근육이 섬세하게 표현되어 있다. 등 위에 올려진 안장에는 붉은 채색이 가미되어 색채감을 조성한다. 한나라는 여러 소수 민족의 침입에 대비해 말을 많이 길렀다. 이러한 배경 덕에 말을 표현한 예술품 또한 많이 제작됐다. 대부분 조용히 서 있는 상태를 묘사하지만, 신체 부위를 통해 역동성과 아름다움을 담아내기도 했다. 

도자(陶瓷), 먹(墨), 호박(琥珀), 비연호(鼻煙壺) 등 다양한 중국 문화유산을 소개해 온 다보성갤러리의 ‘제8회 중국 문화유산 온라인 경매’가 29일부터 9월 5일까지 열린다. 명나라 영락 청화삼무장문개관, 대아재영경장춘 녹지분채 어조문병, 청나라 건륭 어제문진각시먹 등 35점의 출품작들은 경매기간 동안 홈페이지 뿐만 아니라 서울 종로구 수운회관 다보성갤러리 4층에서 직접 관람할 수도 있다.  

봉황 머리 모양 출수구와 둥글게 말려진 봉황 꼬리 모양 손잡이가 눈길을 붙잡는다. 원나라 ‘청백자 철반 봉수 편주자’(青白釉铁斑凤首扁壶, 21×5×8cm)다. 연한 푸른빛이 도는 백유에, 철 가루를 부분적으로 발라 검붉은 반점을 표현했다. 평평하고 널찍한 복부는 둥근 달을 닮았다. 출수구를 봉황 머리로 표현한 주자는 당나라 때 처음 만들어졌다. 페르시아 문화의 영향을 받은 것이다. 동양과 서양의 문화적 요소가 결합된 유물로, 동서양 교류의 역사를 알 수 있다.

‘대아재영경장춘 녹지분채 어조문병’(大雅斋永庆长春 绿地粉彩鱼藻纹瓶, 33×9.6×10.8cm)은 푸른 유약 위에 연꽃과 잉어 등 연못 풍경을 그린 작품이다. 어깨 부분에 ‘대아재’(大雅齋, 서태후 개인 화실) 글씨와 두 마리 용이 전서체로 쓰인 ‘천지일가춘’(天地一家春) 도장이 새겨져 있다. ‘천지일가춘’은 서태후가 지내던 원명원(圓明園) 내부 건물명이다. 청 광서 시기에 경덕진 어요 가마터에서 서태후 전용으로 구운 도자에만 이 두 관지를 함께 새겼다. 잉어(魚)는 ‘남을 여(余)’와 발음이 같아 넉넉한 재물을 의미한다. 굽에는 청나라 전용 관지인 ‘영경장춘’(永慶長春)이 해서체로 쓰여 있다. 

반세기 동안 인류의 중요 문화유산을 수집해 국내 국공립박물관이나 사립박물관에 보급해 온 다보성갤러리는 올해 말 20~30점의 진귀한 유물들을 엄선해 오프라인 경매를 진행할 예정이다.

The 8th Chinese Cultural Heritage Online Auction hosted by Daboseong Gallery will be held from August 29 to September 5.
 

The vase, from the Northern Song Dynasty, has a flower-shaped mouth and a body resembling a gourd, with petal motifs on its shoulder. Brown glaze is applied to the neck, while the rest is covered in white glaze. Lotus motifs are carved into the abdomen below the inward-curved waist. The base features the mark "Yiding," which indicates its production in the Northern Song period. These wares were often bestowed by the imperial court to civil and military officials, used primarily for holding wine or display. This piece was crafted during the reign of Emperor Renzong (1038-1125).
 

This Han Dynasty pottery horse stands on all fours atop a square base. Its head is slightly bowed, mouth slightly open, with round eyes and erect ears. The horse’s short tail is raised, and its well-defined muscles are intricately depicted. Red paint on the saddle adds vibrancy to the piece. The Han Dynasty raised many horses in preparation for invasions by various nomadic tribes, leading to the creation of numerous horse-themed artworks. While many portray the horses standing calmly, this piece captures both dynamism and beauty through its detailed anatomy.

Daboseong Gallery will host its 8th Chinese Cultural Heritage Online Auction from August 29 to September 5. The gallery has introduced a wide array of Chinese cultural heritage artifacts, including ceramics, inksticks, amber, and snuff bottles. The 35 auction items, such as a Ming Dynasty blue-and-white porcelain incense burner and a Qing Dynasty imperial inkstick, will be on display both online and in-person at Daboseong Gallery in Jongno, Seoul, on the 4th floor of Suwoon Hall.

This piece reflects a blend of Eastern and Western cultural elements, showcasing the history of cross-cultural exchange.

An Inscribed Famille-Rose 'Lotus and Fish' Dayazhai Vase (33×9.6×10.8 cm)
This vase features a pond scene of lotuses and fish painted on a blue glaze. The shoulder bears the inscription "Dayazhai" (the private studio of Empress Dowager Cixi) and a seal featuring the phrase "Tian Di Yi Jia Chun" (天地一家春), which refers to a building within the Yuanmingyuan (Old Summer Palace) where Empress Dowager Cixi resided. This inscription, along with two dragons, is written in seal script. The carp in the design symbolizes abundance, as its pronunciation is similar to "surplus" in Chinese. The vase's base is inscribed with the phrase "Yongqing Changchun," a phrase used exclusively for Qing Dynasty imperial wares.

Daboseong Gallery, which has collected important cultural heritage artifacts for over half a century and supplied them to national and private museums, plans to hold an offline auction of 20-30 rare items later this year.
