“완판 예정 '비연호' 놓치지 마세요...오늘 '다보성 중국문화유산 경매 '응찰 마감”

다보성갤러리 '온라인경매' 7일 마감
매번 완판되는 코담배병 '비연호' 화제 
오묘한 색상과 정교한 공예 일품

"비연호(鼻煙壺)를 아시나요?"

비연호는 중국 공예품 중 하나인 비연(鼻煙, 코담배)을 담는 용기로 종류의 다양함과 오묘한 색감, 정교한 공예 등으로 인하여 수장가들에게 인기있는 중국의 골동품이다. 

비연은 우수한 담배잎을 가늘게 간 후에, 사향, 박하등의 귀한 한약재를 같이 넣어 납환등에 밀봉한 후 수년 또는 수십년을 보관하여 만들어낸다. 이렇게 만든 비연을 코로 들이 마시면 되는데 피로를 쫓는 작용을 한다.

비연호는 서울 종로구 경운동의 수운회관에 자리잡은 다보성갤러리에서  매달 열고 있는 '중국 문화유산 온라인 경매'에서 가장 인기있는 출품작이다. 

오늘(7일) 마감하는 제4회 온라인 경매에서도 비연호에 대한 응찰이 쇄도하고 있다. 

이번 경매에는 모두 10여점의 비연호 유물이 선보이고 있으며 청나라 때 제작된 '연로문비연호(清 莲鹭纹鼻烟壶)'의 경우 편병형 수정 비연호로 몸체 양면에 연못의 연꽃과 해오라기(白鷺)를 표현, 마치 한폭의 채색 수묵화를 마주한 듯한 느낌을 갖게 한다. 

연꽃과 해오라기는 길상으로 장원급제, 등과(登科)를 상징한다고 한다. 

또 청 원앙형비연호 (清 鸳鸯式鼻烟壶)는 원보(元寶)형 윗면에 굽이치는 물결이 새겨지면서 마주한 원앙 한쌍이 앉은 청유리 비연호로 반투명으로 푸르스름한 자태가 지켜보는 이들을 매료시킨다. 

다보성 관계자는 "4회째 온라인경매를 진행하는 동안 가장 인기있는 출품작이 비연호"라며 "이번 경매에서도 완판될 것으로 보인다"고 말했다.  비연호는 특히 추정가도 20만원~200만원대로 저렴하다. 

한편 이번 경매에는 도자(陶瓷), 먹(墨), 각(角), 호박(琥珀) 등 여러 분야의 중국 문화유산을 망라하고 있다. 

대표작품으로 송 요주요인물문주자, 원 백자양각운룡문매병, 명영락 금동보살좌상, 명 정군방 박고문주사먹, 청건륭 어람지보 청화연지홍채용문병 등이 꼽힌다.

"Do you know about 'biyanhuo' (鼻煙壺, snuff bottle)?

Biyanhuo is a popular Chinese antique among collectors due to its variety, subtle colors, and exquisite craftsmanship. It is a container for 'biyan' (鼻煙, snuff), a form of tobacco, and is known for its intricacy and aesthetic appeal.

To make biyan, finely ground tobacco leaves are mixed with precious medicinal herbs such as musk and borneol, sealed in a metal container, and aged for several years or even decades. Inhaling the finely ground mixture through the nose is believed to have invigorating effects.

Biyanhuo is particularly sought after in the monthly 'Chinese Cultural Heritage Online Auction' held at Dabo Gallery, located in Sounhoe Hall in Gyeongun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Bidding for biyanhuo is fierce even in today's (7th) closing of the 4th online auction.

In this auction, around ten biyanhuo artifacts are showcased, including the Qing Dynasty's 'A crystal 'lotus' snuff bottle (清 莲鹭纹鼻烟壶).' This snuff bottle, made of crystal and featuring lotus flowers and herons on both sides, gives the impression of a painted ink wash landscape. Lotus flowers and herons symbolize auspiciousness, success, and achievement."

Additionally, the Qing Dynasty's 'A glass 'mandarin duck' snuff bottle (清 鸳鸯式鼻烟壶)' features wave patterns carved on the top surface in yuanbao (元寶, a type of ancient Chinese currency) shape, with a pair of mandarin ducks facing each other seated on the transparent blue glass snuff bottle, captivating observers with its serene beauty.

A spokesperson for Daboseong Gallery stated, 'Throughout the 4th online auction, the most popular item has been the biyanhuo snuff bottle,' adding, 'It is expected to sell out in this auction as well.' Biyanhuo, with an estimated value ranging from 200,000 to 2,000,000 won, is notably affordable.

Meanwhile, this auction includes a wide range of Chinese cultural heritage items from various fields such as ceramics, inksticks, horn crafts, and amber crafts.

Representative pieces include △A celadon-glazed 'figural' pot, Yizhou ware △A white-glazed 'dragon' meiping △A gilt-bronze figure of seated Bodhisattva △A vermilion 'figural and ruyi' inkstick △A underglaze blue and peachbloom 'dragon' vase △A crystal 'lotus' snuff bottle, and etc.
