조선 왕실에서는 왕실 아기씨의 태를 담아 건강과 복, 국가의 안녕, 번영을 기원하는 의미로 항아리에 담아 길지(吉地)에 묻었는데, 이러한 것을 태항아리라고 합니다. 이 유물은 유려한 몸체 곡선이 드러나는 완숙한 미감의 왕실용 태항아리입니다.
다소 낮고 볼록한 양감이 있는 뚜껑과 어깨 부분에서 살짝 솟아오르며 최대로 넓어졌다가 아래로 갈수록 완만한 사선을 그리며 내려가는 몸체를 지니고 있습니다. 내, 외호 각각 고정할 수 있도록 몸체에는 고리가 있고, 뚜껑에는 손잡이에 구멍을 내었습니다. 뚜껑은 둥근 접시를 받쳐 구웠고 몸체는 안굽의 접지면에 모래를 받쳐 구웠습니다.
수준 높은 백자 태항아리가 생산되던 시기의 유물로, 깨끗하고 정갈한 백색의 태토, 정교한 성형, 고르게 시유된 백색의 맑은 유약, 빙렬이 없는 유면 등 모든 면에서 가장 세련되고 정교합니다.

在朝鲜王室，为了祈愿王室婴儿的健康、幸福，以及国家的安宁与繁荣，会将胎盘放入陶瓷罐中，埋葬于风水宝地，此类陶器被称为“胎瓮”。此物器身曲线流畅，是具有成熟美的王室用胎瓮。
顶有盖，略低且向上鼓起，丰肩，肩以下渐收，呈现出柔和的斜线造型。为了便于固定内外器，器身两侧设有系环，盖子的把手上则开有小孔。器盖是托在圆形垫盘上烧制而成，器身则在内圈底部托以砂粒进行烧制。
此胎瓮出自高水平白瓷胎瓮的制作时期，胎土洁净明亮，成型精巧、均匀施透明白釉，以及无开片的釉面，各方面都展现出最精致与典雅的工艺水准。

In the Joseon royal family, it was customary to place a royal baby's placenta in a jar and bury it in an auspicious location to wish for the child’s health, blessings, national peace, and prosperity. These jars are called tae hangari (placenta jars). This artifact is a refined placenta jar made for royal use, notable for its graceful body curves and mature aesthetic.
It features a relatively low and rounded lid and a body that gently swells at the shoulders, reaches its widest point, and tapers smoothly downward. Both the outer and inner jars have rings on their bodies for securing them, and the lid has a pierced handle. The lid was fired on a round support plate, while the jar body was fired with sand supporting the base.
This artifact represents the high-quality white porcelain placenta jars of the period, with refined white clay, precise forming, evenly applied clear glaze, and a smooth glaze surface without crackling—all hallmarks of sophisticated craftsmanship.
