북송 정요(定窯)에서 제작된 쌍이병입니다. 넓은 구연부와 좁고 긴 목, 팽만한 어깨와 잘록한 허리의 형태입니다. 두 개의 귀는 구연부와 어깨를 연결하듯 부착되어 있습니다. 용의 머리로 표현된 귀는 구연부를 물고 있는 모습으로 만들어졌습니다. 귀의 외측에는 돌기 장식이 일정한 간격으로 배치되어 있습니다.
흑유 바탕 위에 백토로 물고기 문양(魚紋)을 시문하였습니다. 물고기는 몸을 뒤틀어 역동적으로 표현되었습니다. 비늘과 지느러미는 간결하면서도 힘 있는 선으로 묘사되었습니다. 물고기 문양은 다산과 풍요, 출세 등을 상징하는 소재로 사용되었습니다. 어깨와 허리에는 종속 문양인 연판문(蓮瓣紋)을 음각으로 시문하였습니다.
철분 함량이 높은 흑유를 시유하여 전체적으로 흑갈색을 띠며 광택이 나타납니다. 굽바닥은 유약을 닦아내 태토가 노출되어 있으며, 그 위에 '官'자 명문이 새겨져 있습니다. 정요는 북송대에 관용(官用) 도자를 생산하기도 하면서 일부 도자를 황실과 관청에 공급하였습니다. '官'자 명문의 이 유물은 황실이나 관청을 위해 제작된 것으로 추정됩니다.
This twin-handled vase was produced at the Ding kiln during the Northern Song dynasty. It features a wide mouth, a narrow and long neck, a voluminous shoulder, and a tapered waist. Two handles connect the mouth rim to the shoulder; shaped like dragon heads, they are crafted to appear as though they are biting the rim. The outer sides of the handles are decorated with evenly spaced stud-like protrusions.
A fish motif is applied in white slip against the black glaze background. The fish is depicted dynamically with a twisting body, while its scales and fins are delineated with concise yet powerful lines. The fish motif is a traditional symbol of fertility, abundance, and success. The shoulder and waist are decorated with subordinate incised lotus petal designs.
The vase is coated with a high-iron black glaze, resulting in an overall blackish-brown color with a lustrous sheen. The glaze on the base has been wiped away to reveal the clay body, upon which the character 'Guan' (Official) is inscribed. The Ding kiln produced official ceramics during the Northern Song dynasty, supplying wares to the imperial court and government offices. This piece, bearing the 'Guan' mark, is presumed to have been produced for the imperial court or a government office.
