충청도 반닫이는 주로 소나무나 느티나무를 사용하였습니다. 특히 산림 출입과 벌채를 제한하던 시기에 제작되어 희소성이 높습니다.
이 반닫이는 책이나 문서를 보관하기 위한 용도입니다. 사개물림 방식으로 뒤틀림을 방지하고 무게를 견딜 수 있도록 만들었습니다.
전면에 호리병형 경첩 두 개가 달려 있고, 길상을 의미하는 ‘卍(만)’자를 투각하였습니다. 흑칠된 표면과 어두운 색의 장석이 어우러져 절제된 미감과 중후한 분위기를 자아냅니다. 또한, 윗널인 천판(天板)이 측널(側訥)보다 돌출되어 사용의 편리를 고려하였습니다.
내구성과 실용성을 중시했던 충청도 가구의 특징이 잘 드러납니다.

此忠清道半开箱主要使用松木或榉木制成。由于制作时期正值限制进入山林与伐木的时期，因此尤为稀有珍贵。
它用于收藏书籍或文书，采用传统的榫卯结构，不仅防止变形，还能承受重量。
正面配有两个葫芦形铰链，并雕刻有象征吉祥的“卍”字图案。黑漆涂面与深色铁饰相映成趣，展现出一种克制含蓄而厚重的美感。顶部面板较侧面板略微突出，提升了使用的便利性。
整体造型体现出忠清道家具注重耐用性与实用性的地方特色。

Chests from Chungcheong Province were typically made using pine or zelkova wood. They are particularly rare as they were produced during periods when forest access and logging were restricted.
This chest was designed for storing books or documents. It employs a dovetail joinery method to prevent warping and to bear heavy weight.
Two gourd-shaped hinges are attached to the front, and a swastika (卍) symbol—representing auspiciousness—is carved in openwork. The dark lacquered surface and subdued metal fittings together create a restrained aesthetic and a dignified atmosphere. Additionally, the top board extends beyond the side panels, adding convenience in use.
The piece clearly reflects the emphasis on durability and practicality characteristic of furniture from Chungcheong Province.
